The new I CAN Child Care & Learning Center located in Hampton, Virginia is an exciting 9,000 square foot facility with eight classrooms for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old and support spaces needed to provide a variety of childcare and preschool education services. As you approach the building, the front entry announces itself with a projected mass and a peeled-up canopy, both clad in a natural cedar rainscreen, while the bright green doors and signage present an air of whimsy. Once inside, the center commons space ceiling rises-up like the front canopy to give the space a grand feel. The Center competes with any new state-of-the-art childcare learning center with its Level 5 gypsum wall board (GWB) finish, solid surface tops, low maintenance luxury vinyl tile (LVT), integrity windows, playground poured-in-place rubber surface, vibrant finishes and artwork, and built-in classroom audio/visual and security. The facility also has a full library, kitchen, office space, and breakroom area. Through careful planning and thoughtful design, Mark Turner Construction was able to provide the owner with a unique facility that meets their needs and budget.
